Build your own Website - Action guide

The Site Build It! Action Guide is an invaluable tool not only for knowing how to build your own site, but first of all the most important of all for understanding how to build a successful business online.

Do not be distracted by all the extra offerings. Read supplementary information ONLY when the timing is right for you... when you need it... when it's relevant to where you are at in the process.

Otherwise, keep moving ahead this Guide. Later, when the time is right, you will encounter one of those articles that you didn't understand. You'll be ready to use it then.

Even this Action Guide can seem like a lot. So keep your focus here. Do not try to drive the whole length of and expressway all at once. Do it DAY by DAY, little step by step.

When you start building your pages, you have 2 options:

1. Build your own website with SBI! using the BB module

If you don't know html you can choose the "Block by Block" module (BB), which is explained on the Action guide (days 6-10)

- It's an easy to use tool and very popular among SBI-ers. Click on the question marks on every subject to get more information.

- You will still need some basic knowledge of html when using the "BB" module, but you can find a list of the basic tags under the SBI resources. In the SBI forums you can also find a lot of friendly help for all of your questions too - Just ask.

- You will also need to think how your aspect of the website - the "Look & Feel" that best describes your theme. SBI provides you with a lot of pre-designed free templates. Take your time, go trough all of them and choose the one that best represents your subject and business needs.

You can also customize these templates in terms of top banner and colors and I'm giving some free design tips to help you do it.

2. Build your own website with SBI! using the UYO module

In the case you are familiar with html, you can go directly and use the "Upload Your Own" Module (UYO)

- This is a more versatile module and gives more flexibility of the layout and "Look and Feel"

- SBI also provides you with a lot of very nice pre-designed templates. Again, take your time and think about what design will better represent your business and theme.

In case you don't want your site to look like other competitors SBI-ers, I made and easy to use template that you can customize the way you want.

You can start with it, or you can switch to it after you have already built some pages using the BB module. (that's why I called it "Transition Template").
